Insurance FAQ

Does Medicare cover podiatry visits in Columbus, Ohio?+
Yes. Medicare Part B covers medically necessary podiatric care, including treatment of foot conditions caused by diabetes (diabetic foot care), nerve damage, or circulatory disorders. Routine nail trimming is covered every 61 days if you have a qualifying systemic condition. Dr. Golan is a Medicare-participating provider.
Does Vertex Podiatry accept Medicaid in Ohio?+
We review Ohio Medicaid plans individually. Because managed care networks can change, please call us at (614) 328-5561 before your appointment so our staff can confirm whether your specific plan is active.
Does insurance cover custom orthotics?+
Many insurance plans - including Medicare - cover custom foot orthotics (also called AFOs or custom-molded insoles) when they are medically necessary and supported by a documented diagnosis. Dr. Golan will document the clinical need thoroughly to support your claim. Coverage varies by plan; we'll verify before fabricating.
Do I need a referral to see a podiatrist?+
In most cases, no. Podiatrists are specialists you can access directly - no primary care referral is required for most insurance plans. HMO plans may require a referral; call your insurance card's member services number if you're unsure, or call our office and we'll help you check.
Does insurance cover laser treatment for toenail fungus or warts?+
It depends on which procedure. Laser wart removal (billed as lesion destruction) is typically covered by insurance. Laser fungal nail treatment, however, is considered a cosmetic procedure by insurers and is not covered regardless of severity. We'll confirm your coverage and out-of-pocket cost before any treatment.
What if I don't have insurance or my plan is out-of-network?+
We offer self-pay pricing for uninsured patients and transparent flat rates for common services. We also provide superbills (detailed receipts with procedure codes) that you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. CareCredit financing is also available for self-pay balances. Call us at (614) 328-5561 for current self-pay rates.
Does Vertex Podiatry offer payment plans or financing?+
Yes. We've partnered with CareCredit, a healthcare credit card accepted at thousands of medical providers nationwide. CareCredit lets you spread the cost of podiatric care over time — including services not fully covered by insurance such as custom orthotics, laser fungal nail treatment, and your remaining balance after insurance pays. Applying takes a few minutes and approval is typically instant. You can apply directly on this page using the CareCredit financing section below.
How do I know if my insurance is accepted before my appointment?+
Call our office at (614) 328-5561 before your appointment and we'll verify your benefits at no charge. Bring your insurance card and a photo ID to your first visit.
